To wrap up Unit 4 I am going to tell everyone why I take plagiarism so seriously. Two terms ago in Medical Terminology I had a girl copy my initial DB post word for word. I went about solving the problem in the wrong way. I commented that I was looking for a different view to comment on and learn from, and instead found my thoughts. The professor then wrote me and said she had handled the problem, and erased our messages, because she didn't want a distraction in the DB. She was right. I should have emailed her instead of writing back. It is upsetting when you know you worked hard, and someone doesn't care to take the time to do so also. I love the way APA citing makes that easy to do when in the classroom! I need a little practice, because the only ones I am really familiar with are articles, and websites. So to be able to cite things in other place I need to review the guidelines.

ReplyDeleteWow thats pretty bold of her! How did she think she was going to get credit for that? LOL I like to go through everyones posts and just get a general idea of what the question is about but then I form my own words and opinions. It would make me very angry too. I had a problem 2nd term with the discussion posts too. Long story short I emailed the girl and we worked it out. So we learn from our mistakes and we can handle it better next time.
Essence I believe I should have done the same thing. I just didn't see the point, because she apoligized, and tryed to rewite it, and change like two words. The whole situation showed that she wasn't serious about the apology. I hope if I am ever in that situation again that since I have knowledge I can handle it properly.
